The Venue
The Innovative Ceramics exhibit took place from January 30 through March 6, 2021 in the Duane Reed Gallery in St Louis, MO.
This a picture of the inner room of the gallery, where all the ceramic pieces were set up.
The Call for Entry
There was no call for entry, as this was an invitational exhibit.
The Ceramic Art Pieces
Her artist statement reads: “Known for her book illustration, Judith Ernst also uses clay as a medium for artistic and spiritual expression. Starting from the vessel form, with its inside and outside and its traditional associations with archetypes such as creation, transformation, and the body as a vessel for the soul, she specializes in one-of-a-kind art pieces that evoke the natural world and its metaphysical reality.”

All the pieces looked very thick, probably because of the deeply carved surface. The surface carving and the glazing gave these pieces their uniqueness.
