The Venue
At the time of the exhibit the building in Hillsboro, Illinois, didn’t have a name, but the owners (Kyle Anderson and Maggie Tarr-Anderson) told me that they plan to name this space the Striped Couch. The pop up show took place on March 6, 2021.
This place had a friendly glow in the night.

The Call for Entry
While there may have been a formal call for entry, I learned about the show when I received an email from the Greenville Artist Guild. The artists submitted images of their pieces online, and the organizer selected the pieces for the one day show.
The Ceramic Art Pieces

This piece was made up a series of thin clay tiles with a carved image on each tile.

This piece of mine is about the mysteries and wisdom of oceans being locked away in Deep Sea Scrolls. Deciphering these scrolls will enlighten us about the oceans.

This piece of mine is about artifacts collected during the 27th century undersea archaeological expeditions of a coastal community inundated by the ocean around the 25th century. The inhabitants of that coastal community lost the ability to make ceramic items, and they resorted to scavenging broken ceramic pieces to assemble utilitarian and decorative items.
