The Venue

The Honor Awards 2021 exhibit took place from June 12 through July 15, 2021 in the gallery of Art Saint Louis in St Louis, Missouri.

This is the street entry for Art Saint Louis Gallery.

The Call for Entry

There was no call for entry, because this was an invitational exhibit in the Gallery featuring works by ten Award-winning St. Louis regional artists who received Awards of Excellence for their works in our 2019 exhibits. Honor Awards 2021 features recent artworks by ten Award-winning regional artists from Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky. The 53 artworks in this exhibition include painting, photography, and ceramic sculpture.

The Ceramic Art Pieces

There was only on ceramic artist in this exhibit. I’m reporting on her pieces.

“Forthcoming” by Christina McNealy.

This piece has glass and blood as materials in addition to ceramics. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any information about the motivation or expressive intent behind Christina using her own blood.  The blood (supposedly burned on the inside of the glass spheres) surely provides a warm coloration.

“Illuminating Entropy” by Christina McNealy.

I couldn’t find a narrative for this piece either.

The title tells the story of this about 3 feet long, thin piece. Imagine the care this piece needed to avoid breakage during drying and firing.
