The Venue

Street entrance to the Sheldon Concert Hall.  Several hallways and side rooms are set up to art exhibits. The Concept to Construct exhibit using the works from the Meramec campus of St Louis Community College was on view from March 5 through April 24, 2021.

This is the hallway that lead to the ceramics portion of the exhibit.

The Call for Entry

I’m not aware of a call for entry. This was more like an invitational exhibit, and some jurying, or other type of selection of the works likely happened within the department at the Meramec campus of St Louis Community College.

The Ceramic Art Pieces

“Incorporeal Consumers” by Anna Bonfili.

This was an extraordinary sculpture with many overlapping components. The tree trunk is obvious, and you can also make out the head of a racoon in the picture on the left.

An elaborate composition using simple elements.

“Girl” by Sue Mullin

An interesting color combination. My first thought was that this piece may have been inspired by the “The Scream”.

Captivating shape and 3D flower design. The bright colors naturally attract the eye.
