The Ceramic Art Pieces

“Ancient Shark IV” by Robert Kokenyesi

This “Ancient Shark” piece is one I made without the glass sheet melted on top. I wanted to show the flowing motion of water around the shark. All pieces in this theme are made of clay ropes twisting as if they follow the movement of both the ocean water and the shark. In other words, the shark becomes one with the ocean.

“Kami of the Ocean” by Robert Kokenyesi

This sculpture is folded from a single sheet of clay. The glazing create a camouflage that I would expect from a kami, a spirit. This is a new artistic effort, and needs lots of refinement.

“Deep Sea Scroll V” and “Oceanated Pliers” by Robert Kokenyesi

The Deep Sea Scroll series invites meditation about the words of Christianity that have escaped our attention, just as the words of Christianity came to light after the discover of the Dead Sea Scrolls.  The Oceanated Pliers piece is a real pliers covereed  in encrustation from the ocean that is the response from Nature to a man-made object.  Both these pieces use the “encrustation” which is crushed bisque mixed with matt glaze.
