From February 3 to February 20, 2016 the art faculty of Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois held its annual exhibit. When it comes to ceramics, two artists showed several pieces.
The first set was a group of vases (or bowls?). The tags didn’t specify the nature of these vessels. They were all untitled, shaped in very similar fashion, and tagged as made by hand coiling. The artist is Craig C. Hoffman.
I show only two here, but these view are sufficient to illustrate the smooth outer surface and the characteristic wavy groove alongside these vessels.
The second set of ceramics were the creations of Angela Hung. There was a group of long, vase-shaped ceramics titled “Gossip 1, Gossip 2, and Gossip 3.
The other creation by Angela at this show was titled “Intertwined”. This was a hollow piece, perhaps resembling two tree trunks leaning against each other, or, maybe supporting each other. Of course, the two shapes leaning against each other may represent people, communities. Not sure what inspired Angela to form this piece. The last picture is a closeup pictured from the top.
